56N’s G3X Upgrade

The Piper Cherokee 180 is a beloved aircraft in the FlightTrek Aviation fleet, and we are excited to announce that it is currently undergoing an avionics upgrade. The new installation will include a state-of-the-art Garmin G3X, making it a Technically Advanced Aircraft (TAA).

In addition to the G3X, the Cherokee 180 will also have a two-axis autopilot installed. The autopilot will make flying easier and more precise, allowing the pilot to focus on other important tasks such as communication with air traffic control and monitoring weather conditions and aircraft instruments. The two-axis autopilot will also provide an added layer of safety by reducing the workload on the pilot during critical phases of flight.

The Cherokee 180 has always been a popular aircraft for flight training and private use, and the addition of the G3X avionics and two-axis autopilot will make it even more capable and user-friendly. Students and pilots alike will appreciate the enhanced situational awareness and ease of operation that the new avionics and autopilot will provide.

At FlightTrek Aviation, we are committed to providing our students and customers with the best possible aircraft and training experience. We are excited to see the Cherokee 180 back in the air with its new upgrades and look forward to sharing it with our community. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development!

Addition or Upgrade?

The Cherokee 180 is already equipped with a G5 display and a GTN550 touchscreen, but the change to the G3X avionics will take its capabilities to the next level. The G3X is a highly advanced avionics suite that integrates multiple functions into a single display. It includes a moving map display, synthetic vision technology, and ADS-B traffic and weather. The G3X also has a built-in GPS, which will provide precise navigation information to the pilot.

Instructors will be available to have students checked out on the G3X. It is not recommended to fly new avionics without training on those avionics first. Please contact your CFI to get a checkout flight scheduled.
